Durham, NC (April 19, 2021) – A 73-year-old woman died in a car accident that took place in Durham on Sunday, April 18th. The collision was reported around 5:30 p.m. on T.W. Alexander Drive at the intersection with Wind River Parkway.
The Durham Police Department responded to the crash scene. According to police, 21-year-old Zahnyah Booker, of Durham, was driving a 2018 Nissan Rogue when she collided with the left side of a Honda Civic driven by Rita Dinizo, of Raleigh. Dinizo was ejected from her vehicle following the collision. She was taken to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Booker and two juveniles in her vehicle were taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Following an investigation, Durham officers charged Booker with driving on a suspended license and failure to wear a seat belt. The crash is still being investigated at this time. There is no further information available.
