DUI Accidents in North Carolina
Driving while impaired and drunk driving continue to pose major threats for North Carolina’s motorists. In a recent year, our state logged more than 11,000 crashes caused by impaired drivers. From these accidents, more than 7,000 injuries and greater than 400 fatalities resulted. Accidents involving impaired drivers have a very high likelihood of ending with someone being hurt. These crashes often take place at high speeds as drivers who are under the influence have little ability to take evasive maneuvers. Further, drunk driving crashes are frequently head-on collisions that are more serious in nature.
A North Carolina DUI accident can leave family members and loved ones struggling to find their way. This is true especially if you have lost a relative in one of these tragic crashes. The law does provide victims with some protection when they have been affected by the reckless actions of a drunk driver.
