Car Accident in Fayetteville
Fatal car accidents in Fayetteville are extremely devastating and heartbreaking events for families who are forced to deal with the sudden loss of a loved one. Sadly, fatal crashes are reported in North Carolina every day. According to statistics maintained by the North Carolina Department of Transportation, nearly 1,500 people lost their lives in North Carolina car accidents in 2019. This number was up slightly over the year before as more motorists were injured and killed on the roadways when compared with the same time period in 2018. Unfortunately, many car accident victims are injured or killed due to the actions of other drivers on the roadway and through no fault of their own.
When you have been affected by a Fayetteville car accident, you may have questions about where to turn next. Following the accident, you should have a full understanding of your legal rights as they relate to the accident. If your loved one was killed, you could be entitled to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the driver responsible for their death. These cases must generally be filed within two years of the date of death. A wrongful death claim should only be handled by an experienced attorney as these cases are very complicated and require someone who has knowledge of the law and procedure.
