North Carolina Motorcycle Accidents
Motorcycle accidents are very likely to result in serious injuries for the victims involved. According to statistics from the North Carolina Department of Transportation, there were 3,409 reported motorcycle accidents in North Carolina in 2020. From these accidents, there were 2,684 injuries reported and, sadly, 176 people lost their lives. When breaking these numbers down, we can determine that about 80% of all North Carolina motorcycle crashes will result in injuries. This rate is far higher than for crashes involving cars or other passenger vehicles.
When a motorcycle crash takes place, it must be carefully investigated by authorities. Many motorcycle collisions happen due to the fault of other drivers. Drivers of other vehicles often fail to see or yield to motorcyclists, which can result in a devastating collision. When this occurs, the motorcyclist or their family may have certain legal rights and may be able to seek compensation for their damages.
