Fayetteville, NC (May 29, 2021) – The Fayetteville Police Department responded to the scene of a serious pedestrian crash in the city on Thursday, May 27th. The crash happened around 10:05 p.m. along Village Drive at the intersection with Boone Trail.
According to officials, a 48-year-old woman from Spring Lake was walking near the roadway when she was hit by a 2019 Nissan Frontier driven by a 35-year-old man from Fayetteville. When police arrived, they found the Frontier in the roadway and the woman lying on the ground. She was rushed to Cape Fear Valley Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Her identity has not been released at this time. The driver of the Frontier was not injured.
The accident resulted in Village Drive being closed for about two hours as motorists were diverted to an alternate route. Police are still investigating the crash at this time. There is no word on whether any charges are expected to be filed.
