Forsyth County, NC (August 27, 2021) – A 17-year-old is dead following a car accident in Forsyth County on Friday. The collision took place just after 5:00 p.m. on North Carolina Highway 158.
Troopers with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the scene of the accident. According to investigators, a 2007 Chevrolet SUV, a 2019 International tractor-trailer and a white car were involved in the crash. The Chevrolet was driven by a 17-year-old from Walkertown while the tractor-trailer was driven by Michael Weinris of Lexington, South Carolina. Both vehicles were traveling west.
At the same time, a white SUV was stopped facing northbound on Old Belews Creek Road. The person driving the white SUV made a left turn in front of the Chevrolet. The Chevrolet ran off the road to avoid a crash before coming back on the roadway and striking the tractor-trailer. Both vehicles then came to rest on U.S. 158. The white vehicle continued traveling.
The 17-year-old died at the accident scene. There were no other injuries reported. Police are still looking into the crash at this time. There is no word on the suspect or any potential charges.
