North Carolina Car Accidents
According to statistics published by the North Carolina Department of Transportation, more than 280,000 people were hurt in car accidents that took place in our state in 2018. During this same year, more than 80,000 victims suffered injuries in these accidents ranging from minor to severe. Injuries from a North Carolina car accident can linger for a long time following the crash and can result in many questions regarding your future after the crash.
Following a North Carolina car accident, you should act as soon as possible to protect yourself and your legal rights. First, and most importantly, you should do is seek treatment for your injuries as soon as possible. If you delay treatment, you could complicate matters in several ways. For one, you may not be able to heal as quickly. Although many times the injuries from car accidents do not show up for several days following the crash, it is critical that you receive a diagnosis at the earliest possible opportunity. This allows you to receive treatment earlier and decreases the chance that your injuries will worsen over time.
Second, you should seek treatment at the earliest possible opportunity in order to preserve your legal claims. Many insurance adjusters will consider a delay between the time of the crash and seeking treatment as an indication that you were not actually hurt by the accident itself. These adjusters are not always correct, however, they will attempt to lower the value of your claim in many cases if you did not promptly see a doctor as soon as possible following your crash.
