Motorcycle Accidents in North Carolina
Riding a motorcycle can be a fun hobby or a reliable mode of transportation for some people. Here in North Carolina, riders can enjoy the warm weather and numerous sights that our state has to offer. It is common to see multiple motorcycles on the road each time we get behind the wheel of a vehicle. It is important to remember, however, that a motorcycle crash is often a devastating event that can instantly turn into a tragedy.
In 2020, a total of 3,409 motorcycle accidents were reported across North Carolina. As a result of these accidents, 2,684 riders were hurt, an injury rate approaching 80%. Sadly, motorcycle crashes during that same year claimed the lives of 176 people. These numbers are certainly sobering and they underscore the dangers faced by riders on our state’s roadways. The risks are extremely high and, to make matters worse, many motorcycle crashes result from the negligence of other drivers. These drivers may fail to see or yield to the motorcyclist and their mistakes result in a serious crash.
