Harnett County, NC (June 14, 2020) – One child is dead and two others were injured following a crash in Harnett County on Saturday, June 13th. The crash happened around 6:45 p.m. on Cameron Hill Road near the intersection with Gilchrist Road.
According to the State Highway Patrol, an unidentified male was operating a Jeep Wrangler at a high rate of speed when he failed to navigate a curve. The driver lost control of his vehicle, causing it to overturn. Two children inside the vehicle were rushed to Cape Fear Regional Medical Center and later airlifted to UNC Hospitals. One child was killed in the crash. The ages of the children were 6, 8 and 12. The male driver was airlifted to Duke Hospital in unknown condition.
SHP is still investigating the crash. No further information has been released at this time.
