High Point, NC (January 21, 2021) – The High Point Police Department responded to the scene of a crash involving a car and a bicycle on Thursday evening. The crash happened around 5:00 p.m. on South University Parkway at the intersection with Leonard Avenue.
According to Capt. Wolanin with the HPPD, the cyclist was riding near the intersection when they were struck by a car. The rider suffered serious injuries. An ambulance arrived at the scene and transported the unidentified bicyclist to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. There is no further update on their condition at this time. The driver remained at the scene following the accident. No other injuries were reported in the crash. There are no details on the events leading up to the accident and it is not clear if any charges are expected to be filed at this time.
