High Point, NC (February 26, 2021) – At least one person was injured in a two-car collision that happened in High Point on Wednesday, February 24th. The accident took place at approximately 11:10 a.m. along North Main Street near Dayton Street.
The High Point Police Department responded to the scene. According to a report from Officer A.M. Goins, Delores Wright Stephenson, of Trinity, was operating a 2001 Mitsubishi westbound on North Main. At the same time, Codell Brockman, of High Point, was operating a 2011 Ford on Dayton Street. Stephenson tried to cross the road at the intersection but collided with Brockman’s car.
A passenger in Brockman’s vehicle, Charles Wesley Hammonds, was injured and was taken by the Guilford County EMS to High Point Regional Hospital. There is no update on his condition.
After an investigation, Officer Goins charged Stephenson with failing to stop at a stop sign or flashing red light.
