High Point, NC (July 19, 2022) – Officers with the High Point Police Department responded to the scene of a two-car crash on Monday, July 18th. The accident took place in the 1700 block of Cedrow Drive around 7:00 p.m.
According to a report from officers, a 2008 Dodge Caliber and a 1997 Saturn station wagon were traveling in opposite directions on Cedrow Drive. The Caliber crossed the center line and collided head-on with the Saturn. The driver of the Caliber, 58-year-old Melvin Lend Crosby, died at the accident scene. The other driver, an 81-year-old woman in the Caliber, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. The woman was not identified.
Police are still investigating. It is believed that alcohol was a contributing factor.
