Knightdale, NC (June 7, 2021) – A 21-year-old driver was killed and three others were hurt in a two-vehicle crash that took place on North Carolina Highway 87 in Knightdale. The accident happened on Sunday, June 6th.
According to a report from the scene, Matthew Lisi was traveling southbound on Highway 87 at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his vehicle. The car veered off the road and crashed through a cable barrier in the median before colliding head-on with a vehicle traveling in the northbound lanes. Lisi died at the crash scene. His two passengers suffered undisclosed injuries and were taken to WakeMed for treatment. The driver of the second car was also taken to a local hospital in unknown condition.
The road remained closed until around 8:00 p.m. while police cleared the scene and investigated the accident. Motorists were urged to use caution and to avoid traveling in the area if possible. There is no further information available.
