DUI Accidents in North Carolina
North Carolina experiences a substantial number of DUI and alcohol-related accidents every year. According to some recent statistics, there are more than 11,000 accidents involving impaired drivers reported annually in our state. These crashes resulted in more than 7,500 injuries and approximately 400 fatalities. Drunk driving fatalities account for about one-third of the total number of deadly accidents in our state each year. Drivers who choose to get behind the wheel of a vehicle while they are impaired are making a major mistake and are placing themselves and others at risk of serious bodily harm. The decision to drink and drive is one of the most reckless things that a person can do.
A North Carolina DUI accident has the potential to affect your life forever. This is especially true if you have lost a loved one in the collision. The pain and despair that you are feeling during this time are likely some of the most difficult things that you have experienced. North Carolina law recognizes the rights of crash victims and their families to seek recovery when they have been affected by the actions of a drunk driver.
