Maxton, NC (February 2, 2021) – A 17-year-old was killed in a pedestrian crash that took place in Maxton over the weekend. The accident took place just before 10:00 p.m. on Saturday.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the scene on Wilson Road near the intersection with McNair Road in Hoke County. According to Sgt. J.J. Sherill, a 17-year-old Maxton resident was walking in the road when he was was struck by a vehicle driven by 23-year-old Jazmin Shiyanne Scott. Troopers believe that Scott’s vehicle crossed the center line and collided with the teenage pedestrian.
Following an investigation, Scott was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle for her role in the crash. No further details are available at this time.
