Maxton, NC (November 24, 2021) – A 35-year-old woman and a 77-year-old man were killed in a two-vehicle accident that took place in Maxon on Tuesday, November 23rd. The collision occurred around 6:00 p.m. on Cabinet Shop Road.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the accident scene. According to a report from troopers, 77-year-old Gerald Dail was driving a 1999 Plymouth van on Cabinet Shop when he crossed the centerline of the roadway. Dail’s van collided head-on with a 2016 Honda Civic driven by 35-year-old Brandie Strickland.
Both Dail and Strickland suffered critical injuries and died at the crash scene. A 5-year-old passenger in Dail’s vehicle was taken to a hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries. There is no word on what caused the van to cross the yellow line. Motorists were asked to avoid the area and to find alternate routes of travel if possible.
Police are still investigating the accident at this time. There is no additional information available.
