Millers Creek, NC (August 12, 2020) – An elderly man was killed in a two-car crash that took place in Millers Creek on Saturday, August 8th. The crash happened around 10:00 a.m. on North Carolina Highway 16.
According to troopers with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, 93-year-old William Osborne was driving a 2005 Toyota Corolla and exiting the Food Lion parking lot. As Osborne turned onto N.C. 16 he was struck by a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by 18-year-old Derbin Ramirez of Millers Creek. Both cars then came to rest on the shoulder of the roadway.
According to Trooper Z.M. Jennings of the Highway Patrol, Osborne died at the crash scene. There is no word on whether Ramirez suffered any injuries as a result of the crash. The Wilkes Rescue Squad and Millers Creek Fire and Rescue assisted police at the scene.
Troopers have not said whether any charges are expected. There is no further information available at this time.
