Nash County, NC (November 29, 2020) – A Nash County Sheriff’s Deputy who was involved in a serious crash on Thanksgiving Day has been identified. The crash took place on U.S. Highway 301 near May Drive.
Police say that deputy Jared Allision, 26, attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a motorcycle that was speeding along U.S. 301. As Allison began his investigation, his patrol car was struck by a white Nissan Maxima that was also traveling on U.S. 301. The force of the collision caused Allison’s vehicle to flip several times before coming to rest in the grass.
Allison suffered critical injuries, life-threatening injuries and was taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville following the collision, where he currently remains. The Nissan driver was not injured in the crash and is cooperating with authorities. Police are still searching for the motorcyclist at this time.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol, along with the Rocky Mount Police Department, are investigating the crash. No charges have been filed at this time.
We would like to offer our thoughts and best wishes to the family of Jared Allison following this tragic crash in Nash County.
