Fatal Crashes in North Carolina
In 2018, there were 273,405 crashes involving passenger vehicles in North Carolina, and 866 people were sadly killed in these accidents with nearly 82,000 injuries reported. Each North Carolina car accident must be carefully investigated by authorities in order to determine the cause. Police will take measurements and photographs of the crash scene, and will interview any witnesses in order to determine how the accident occurred. Based on the results of their investigation, officers will then determine which driver was responsible for causing the collision.
Under North Carolina law, the driver who caused the crash can be held legally responsible for all injuries and damages suffered by the other motorists. In North Carolina, there are thousands of negligent drivers on our roadways every day. These drivers may be distracted, impaired, or simply exceeding the speed limit.
