Parkton, NC (June 9, 2020) – One person was killed and another was seriously hurt in a crash that took place in Parkton on Monday, June 8th. The crash was reported on Davis Bridge Road.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the scene. Troopers say that 56-year-old Arnel Dean Scott was driving a 2010 Volkswagen northbound when his car exited the road then swerved back onto the street and crossed over the other side of the road before striking a culvert and overturning. Scott’s passenger, 51-year-old Jolynn Rapolla Brown, died at the crash scene. Scott was seriously injured and was taken to Cape Fear Valley Hospital in serious condition.
Alcohol is believed to have played a role in the crash. Scott was charged with misdemeanor death by vehicles. Troopers say that additional charges could be forthcoming.
