Pinnacle, NC (August 25, 2022) – A man was killed in a crash that took place in Pinnacle on Thursday, August 25th. The accident occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. on US Highway 52 northbound near the exit for Perch Road.
According to police, a 1998 Jeep was traveling northbound on US 52 around 1:30 a.m. For unknown reasons, the Jeep left the road and overturned. The driver was identified as a 50-year-old man from Winston-Salem. After the initial crash, the driver exited his vehicle and was standing near the road. At that time, a tractor-trailer collided with the Jeep, causing the vehicle to crash into the man. The driver of the Jeep died at the scene. The truck driver was not hurt.
Crews remained at the scene until around 4:00 p.m. while they investigated the accident. Motorists were advised to use caution during this time.
There is no further information available. An investigation is ongoing.
