Raleigh, NC (December 3, 2021) – A 17-year-old girl from Raleigh was killed in a hit-and-run crash early Friday morning. The accident took place on U.S. Highway 401 near Liles Road at approximately 1:30 a.m.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the crash scene. According to a report from troopers, the 17-year-old girl was walking on a paved shoulder along the highway when a 2016 Dodge Ram pickup crossed the fog line and struck her. The truck left the scene following the collision. The girl was pronounced dead at the accident scene.
Following an investigation, police arrested the driver of the truck, 27-year-old Wendel Romual Rameriz-Silva. Rameriz-Silva was issued several charges, including aggravated felony death by vehicle, felony hit-and-run, reckless driving, and driving with a revoked license.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing. There is no further information available at this time.
