Raleigh, NC (October 21, 2021) – An N.C. State University student was killed after being hit by a car near campus over the weekend. The accident took place on Sunday, October 17th at the intersection of Varsity Drive and Crest Road around 2:45 a.m.
According to police, 21-year-old Benjamin DeRose was crossing Crest Road when he was hit by a 2008 Acura. DeRose sustained critical injuries in the accident. Rescue crews arrived at the scene and pronounced him dead as a result of his injuries. The driver of the Acura remained at the scene after the collision and spoke with police. There were no other injuries reported in the collision.
There have been no charges filed at this time. The crash remains under investigation. No further information has been released.
