Raleigh, NC (September 16, 2020) – Police were on the scene of a fatal crash that took place in Raleigh on Wednesday, September 16th. The crash happened around 2:00 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 40 near exit 284.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the crash scene along with rescue crews. According to troopers, at least one person was killed in the accident. Based on witness reports from the scene, the crash appeared to involve at least three vehicles in a rear-end collision. There is no word on exactly how the accident took place. Troopers have not identified the deceased victim at this time. It is not clear if anyone else was injured as a result of the accident.
Traffic in the area was detoured to other routes as police and rescue crews worked to clear debris and investigate the accident. Motorists were advised to use caution when traveling through the area. There is no additional information available at this time.
