Injury Crashes in North Carolina
A North Carolina motorcycle accident presents many problems for victims. First, the crash itself is dangerous and can be deadly under the worst-case scenario. Victims who survive the crash can be left with serious injuries that may take a long time to heal. The injuries frequently require extended medical such as hospitalizations and surgeries. These effects, in turn, can lead to a financial impact that results in you missing work and being unable to support yourself and your family.
A motorcycle accident can be made even worse when the crash is a hit-and-run accident. In North Carolina, it is illegal for motorists to leave the scene of a crash. If the crash caused injuries, this is a felony that is punishable by jail time, probation, and high fines. In addition, motorists who flee the scene of a crash can be held civilly liable for the injuries that they have caused. This is especially true because many hit-and-run accidents are caused due to some type of negligent driving behavior. A larger problem with hit-and-run crashes is finding available insurance coverage. In the event that the other driver is not located, victims will need to seek the skills of an experienced attorney in order to ensure that they can receive compensation for their injuries. An attorney can locate all available policies that could provide compensation in this difficult scenario.
