Pedestrian Accidents in North Carolina
According to the North Carolina Department of Transportation, there are more than 3,000 reported pedestrian accidents across our state each year. According to the same statistics, about 10% of individuals involved in pedestrian crashes will suffer fatal injuries. In addition, hundreds more will sustain injuries with many of these injuries being serious and severe in nature. A North Carolina pedestrian accident can lead to life-altering outcomes, including broken bones, scars, permanent disfigurement, and even death.
Following a pedestrian crash, the accident must be carefully investigated in order to determine the cause. In many cases, negligent drivers are responsible for the accident. Impaired drivers are a frequent source of pedestrian accidents. An impaired driver lacks an appreciation for the dangers and risks associated with driving. Their reaction times are slowed and they pose an unreasonable risk to all other drivers and pedestrians who are sharing the road. Unfortunately, these individuals choose to get behind the wheel of a vehicle anyway and in the process, they end up endangering many innocent motorists.
