Raleigh, NC (February 20, 2021) – A pedestrian suffered injuries in a crash that took place in Raleigh late Friday evening. The crash occurred in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 440 near New Bern Avenue and Interstate 87.
Officials with the Raleigh Police Department responded to the accident scene just after 3:00 a.m. According to officials, the pedestrian was walking in or near the roadway when they were struck by the eastbound vehicle. The pedestrian sustained undisclosed injuries as a result of the crash and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The pedestrian’s identity is not available at this time. The crash resulted in the closure of the eastbound lanes while police conducted an investigation into the accident. The road remained closed for several hours and motorists were advised to avoid the area if possible. No additional injuries were reported.
There is no word on potential charges at this time. An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
