Raleigh, NC (October 13, 2022) – A woman was killed in a hit-and-run collision in Raleigh on Thursday, October 12th. The accident took place just after midnight on South Saunders Street near the area of South Wilmington Street.
Police say that a woman was walking on the side of the road when she was struck by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle immediately fled the scene following the collision. The woman, who was not identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. Following an investigation, police arrested 32-year-old James Douglas Virgin in connection with the accident. Virgin was charged with several offenses, including driving while impaired, felony hit-and-run, and failure to maintain lane control. Additional charges are possible but have not been filed at this time. There were no other vehicles or individuals involved.
