Randolph County, NC (September 9, 2020) – An 88-year-old woman from Troy is dead after a crash that took place in Randolph County on Tuesday, September 8th. The crash took place on Lassiter Mill Road near Burney Mill Road around 5:30 p.m.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the crash scene shortly after the collision took place. According to notes from troopers, Imogene Hardister was driving a golf cart northbound on the shoulder of the roadway. At the same time, a 2012 Chevy pickup truck was traveling behind Hardister in the same direction. The truck moved over to pass the golf cart but collided with the cart as it attempted to make a U-turn.
Hardister was seriously hurt in the crash. She was transported to a local hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. The pickup truck driver was not hurt in the crash.
Troopers continue to investigate the accident at this time. There is no word on whether charges are expected to be filed.
