North Carolina Pedestrian Accidents
In the year 2018, there were 2,435 pedestrian accidents in North Carolina, and 2,210 injuries were reported as a result of these crashes. Sadly, many pedestrian accident injuries are life-changing and are very severe in nature. Some common injuries are broken bones, soft tissue injuries, head and neck injuries, and spinal cord trauma. In the worst-case scenario, death may result from the crash. Each North Carolina pedestrian crash must be closely investigated by authorities. Some common issues that arise in pedestrian crashes are whether the pedestrian was in a crosswalk or other marked areas, whether the driver was distracted before the crash, and if the collision could have been avoided through the use of reasonable care and caution.
Under North Carolina law, a driver is negligent if they act below the standard of a reasonable person in the same situation. Drivers who fail to pay attention to the roadway and cause accidents are considered to be negligent and can be held financially responsible for any damages that they cause. With a pedestrian accident, these damages can include medical bills, lost wages due to the crash, and the pain and suffering due to injuries sustained. Given the serious injuries that occur in many North Carolina pedestrian crashes, the stakes can be high. You should ensure that you have the best representation so that you receive the compensation you deserve.
