Selma, NC (April 21, 2022) – A man was killed in a crash on Highway 70 in Selma on Wednesday night, April 20th. The crash happened on US Highway 70 near Buffalo Road.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the accident scene. According to a report from troopers, a man was traveling on US 70 when his vehicle became disabled. After the vehicle was disabled, the man exited the car and attempted to flag down a passing vehicle. As he was standing near the road, he was hit by a pickup truck that was traveling eastbound on the highway. The man, who was not identified, died at the accident scene. Troopers believe that he ran out of gas prior to the crash. There were no additional injuries reported.
The road was closed for several hours while an investigation was conducted. Motorists were advised to avoid the scene.
