Surry County, NC (October 23, 2020) – A worker was killed in a crash that took place in Surry County on Thursday, October 22nd. The incident occurred around 5:10 p.m. along Highway 268 near Oriole Way.
According to John Shelton on the Surry County Emergency Services, 64-year-old Darrell Anderson was working on the roadway. Anderson parked his work truck in the westbound lane while doing utility work. As he walked around the back of the truck, he was hit by a pickup truck that was traveling westbound on Highway 268. Anderson sustained critical injuries and died at the accident scene. The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and cooperated with authorities. The driver has not been identified at this time. There were no other injuries reported as a result of the crash.
No further information is available at this time. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
