Thomasville, NC (December 16, 2021) – A 61-year-old Thomasville man was killed in a hit-and-run accident on Business 85 near North Carolina Highway 68 on Thursday morning. The accident took place around 6:00 a.m.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol was called to the scene. According to a report, Robert Lee Kersey was walking on Business 85 when he was hit by a car. The driver left the scene following the crash. Rescue workers arrived and pronounced Kersey dead. At this time, there is no description of the vehicle or the suspect involved. There were no other injuries reported. The northbound lanes of the roadway were closed for several hours as officials investigated.
Troopers are currently searching for the vehicle that was involved. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Highway Patrol.
