Union County, NC (October 12, 2020) – One person was killed and multiple others were hurt following a crash that took place in Union County on Monday, October 12th. The crash took place on North Carolina Highway 218 near Old Ferry and Crooked Creek Church Road.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the accident scene. According to a report from troopers, a Pontiac, driven by 23-year-old Delilah Lokesha Polk, was traveling eastbound on N.C. 218 when the car crossed the centerline and struck another vehicle head-on. Polk was killed in the crash. Her passenger, a 22-year-old woman sustained life-threatening injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. No one else involved in the crash has been identified at this time.
The roadway was closed while troopers investigated the accident. There is no word on what caused Polk to travel left of center at this time. No additional details are available.
