Whiteville, NC (May 10, 2021) – A pedestrian from Fayetteville was killed in a crash that took place over the weekend on J.K. Powell Boulevard. The collision happened on Saturday, May 8th near the intersection with West Burkhead Street.
The Whiteville Police Department, along with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, responded to the accident scene. According to police, 26-year-old Khadijah Bellamy, of Fayetteville, was walking on J.K. Powell Boulevard when she was hit by a car driven by 30-year-old Jamon Jackson, of Whiteville. Rescue crews arrived at the scene and rushed Bellamy to Columbus Regional Healthcare System where she died as a result of her injuries. There were no other injuries reported.
The crash remains under investigation and there is no word on whether any charges are expected. Anyone with information should contact Lieutenant Riggins with the Whiteville Police Department.
