Winston-Salem, NC (April 19, 2021) – A moped driver was critically hurt following a crash that took place in Winston-Salem on Sunday evening. The accident was reported just after 6:00 .m. on Motor Road near the intersection with Old Rural Hall Road.
The Winston-Salem Police Department responded to the accident scene. According to police, Charles Owens was driving a moped when he entered the intersection. As he drove through the intersection, the moped collided with a Chevy Traverse that was traveling westbound on Motor Road. Owens was ejected from the moped and was found unconscious in the roadway when police arrived. There is no word on whether anyone else was injured in the accident. The driver of the Traverse was not identified.
Police are investigating the accident at this time. There is no word on whether any charges are expected to be filed.
