Winston-Salem, NC (February 27, 2021) – The Winston-Salem Police Department responded to the scene of a car accident on Wednesday, February 24th. The incident took place on Cole Road near the intersection with E. Sprague Street.
According to a report from Officer J. Yount, Madolores Hernandez Vargas was driving a 2001 Chevrolet southbound on Cole Road when she came to the intersection with E. Sprague. At the same time, Brenda Shelf Harris was driving a 2006 Mazda eastbound on Sprague and came to the same intersection. Vargas had a red light in her direction of travel and entered the intersection where she collided with Harris’s vehicle. A child in Harris’s car suffered undisclosed injuries and was taken to Brenner Children’s Hospital for treatment. There is no further information on the child’s condition ad no additional injuries were reported.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing. No additional details are available at this time.
