Winston-Salem, NC (June 21, 2020) – A 19-year-old was killed in a Winston-Salem motorcycle crash on Friday. The crash happened on Gumtree Road near the intersection with Ivy Yokeley Road.
According to the State Highway Patrol, Daniel Hughes was riding a motorcycle southwest on Gumtree. At the same time, a Chevy Suburban was traveling southbound on Ivy Yokeley. The Suburban was pulling a landscape trailer. The driver of the suburban attempted to make a left turn onto Gumtree and collided with head-on with the motorcycle.
Hughes died at the crash scene while the driver of the Suburban was not hurt. Police are still investigating at this time. There is no word whether any charges are expected.
