Winston-Salem, NC (August 1, 2022) – The North Carolina State Highway Patrol was called to the scene of a deadly crash on US Highway 52 early Sunday morning. The crash occurred around 3:45 a.m. on US Highway 52 near Interstate 285.
Reports indicate that a Ford Ranger was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of the road. The Ranger then collided head-on with an Acura TL that was traveling northbound. Both vehicles caught on fire following the crash. The drivers both died at the scene. Their identities have not been released at this time. There were no passengers or other individuals involved in the accident.
It is not clear how fast the vehicles were traveling at the time of the collision. Troopers are still conducting an investigation in order to determine if impairment was a factor in the collision.
